Hada Crie: The truth about N2000

16 January 2014

Last June, I bought Hada Crie, a beauty gadget that makes use of ions to deep-cleanse and moisturize the skin.

It was my most expensive singular beauty purchase, costing close to SGD 400. (it’s fallen to only $200+ now >_< lucky for those of you who are looking to buy it!) You can read the review here.

I was frustrated that my cotton pads were so clean (as weird as it is to be upset at something that’s supposedly good) and thought it might be the device not being as good as the older model, or that the toner is not strong enough, or maybe even the fault of the cotton pads.

Now seven months later, I finally have my answer.

This is actually all thanks to my sister, who read my review, loved it after trying N2000 for herself when I brought mine back to Singapore and eventually got me to buy one for her.

The truth?

It’s not the type of cotton pads.
It’s not the toner.
It’s not the gadget.

It’s…

MY FACE.

The simple answer to the clean cotton pads is my face.
It’s just… not dirty.

You must be thinking how super lame this is.

Face not dirty -> Clean cotton pad. Very amazing revelation meh? Doesn’t take a monkey to figure it out.

But I was SO SURE dirt was hidden in my pores. Sure as the sun will rise. That’s why it never crossed my mind that my face-cleaning techniques were so effective, that I had a non-dirty face. (see what I did there? #beautyandthebeast #lyrics)

My sister sent this photo to me:

hc-zh

When I saw it, I was floored.

DIRTY COTTON PADS ARE POSSIBLE!!!

She bought the same toner as I did. Same N2000. And she got a dirty cotton pad! (filthy, if I may add :D )

The answer was in my face all along. (yes, feeling very punny this morning)

I don’t know how I feel about it.

Thinking about it, actually I do. All my disappointments, all my frustrations… all for naught. I tried 5 different toners and at least 6 different types of cotton pads. Bloody hell. All that emotional energy, time and money wasted! :A

To everyone who asked me if you should get N1000 instead of N2000 (because of my clean cotton pads), or those curious about how my experimentation went, I hope you have your answer now.

I’ll also take the chance to answer a few FAQs:

You’ve had Hada Crie for a few months now. Do you still use it?
Yes! Not as often (it used to be daily cause I was a fanatic then), but definitely yes.

Do you still find Hada Crie effective?
Absolutely. Still loving the hydrated, plump skin I get every time after using the device! If I do it at night, my skin still feels very hydrated the next morning! ^o^

Do your pores look smaller?
I don’t think it did because to be fair, my pores didn’t look large to start with. It looked large only to my 5cm-from-the-mirror vision lol.

For everything else, please read the N2000 review and the comparison post of all the Hada Crie models! There’s a very good chance you’ll find the answer in the post or in one of my comments below the post. Thanks for not asking the same questions and making me repeat myself endlessly :)

edit 1/16: Shockingly, the prices for Hada Crie went UP in shops today! (why so qiao?! Is it to make me feel better now that the price is almost the same again? lol) By more than $100 :O This has never happened before. I don’t know what’s going on.

Actually when I first read your post I wanted to say it’s probably because you live in Japan and the air is clean that’s why the clean cotton pad, but I didn’t want to sound presumptuous (and also because I don’t have a Hada Crie yet, I can’t comment knowledgeably)

    • Reply Rin 26 January 2014 at 1:09 am

Yeah, that’s probably true… But there is just something deeply satisfying about seeing a dirty cotton pad, ya know? Haha.

Have you tried out your Hada Crie yet? Did you manage to see a “satisfying” cotton pad? ;)

      • Reply Erin 26 January 2014 at 4:30 pm

Yes, I finally used it last night! I have a more than “satisfactory” cotton pad for sure. Even more than your sister’s hahaha. The air in HK is not clean, and I don’t even put on make-up, just sunblock during the day on top of skincare. :)

        • Reply Rin 28 January 2014 at 3:17 am

Haha, you must feel like you’ve got your money’s worth on the gadget!

Hopefully with continued use your cotton pads will become less dirty. I think that will be the ultimate satisfaction!

Hi. Found your blog while Google for Hada crie reviews. As I’ll be in Japan next month. Where can I get the N2000 in Japan? Is it cheaper to get this in Japan than in Singapore?
    Thank you.

    • Reply Rin 1 April 2014 at 12:03 pm

      Hi Rak,

Yes, I believe it’s cheaper to get N2000 in Japan than in Singapore. N2000 wasn’t available for sale in Singapore when I was back last year, so you may want to double check the prices in Singapore before coming to Japan though.

You can find it at any major electronic appliance store in Japan. If you’re visiting Tokyo, there are many such stores in Shinjuku, etc.

        Hi Rin,
Do you know any way that I can buy one online that from Japan because there are so many fake one from Ebay and Amazon?
        Thanks :)

        • Reply Rin 23 December 2015 at 1:33 pm

          Hi Tran,
99% of Japanese online stores do not ship overseas (due to language barriers and the hassle of overseas shipping) so if you do not want to buy from Ebay/Amazon then your other option would be to use a forwarding service. If you do a google search you should be able to find many.

If you’d like, I can also help you buy it here and mail it to you for a small fee. In that sense, I take the role of the forwarding service :) If you’re interested, drop me a message with details of what model you want to buy and what country you’re from so that I can advise the costs.

    Dear Rin,

Just wondering have you tried to use N2000 on eyes?

    • Reply Rin 23 April 2014 at 10:43 pm

      Hello Christina,

No, because N2000 is not intended for use on the eyes. As you might know, the eye area is very delicate as the skin is very thin, and extremely sensitive. Care has to be taken even when massaging with our hands! So please don’t use N2000 on the eyes :)

    Hi Rin,
Thank you for posting this and the article on unboxing N2000. I received it from my hubby just two days ago and was totally clueless even after trying to figure out what’s written on the instructions manual. I chanced upon your blog while trying to find more information. After using it for the first time, I found myself doing for hubby and kids, and I asked them to grab my other arm while I was doing the ‘facial’ for them.

    It’s really fun! Thanks again!

    Linda

Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun! I’m really glad to know that my post was helpful in deciphering N2000! :D

May I know what’s the difference between N2000 and N28000Bf?

    • Reply Rin 26 July 2014 at 8:28 pm

I believe there is no difference.

N28000Bf is simply the repackaged version of N2000 for the Hong Kong market.

Similarly, N820 is repackaged as CM-N8800BF in Hong Kong.

Hi. I just got my hada crie and have not had a single dirty cotton pad with the cleansing either. I’ve tried 3 toners despite my sensitive skin and I’ve got the same results. Thank goodness I read your experience or I might have continued looking for toners to try.

By the way, I don’t think it’s medically possible for pores to shrink. They just look obvious when our skin is dry but the size doesn’t physically change. So don’t worry about that. .=)

Hi! Just wondering, does the Hada Crie come with an English Manual? can you also use it on other places other than your face? such as neck, arms, legs, body, etc

    • Reply Rin 24 January 2015 at 1:40 pm

Hi Jasmine, yes it does. I mentioned the instruction manual and more about N2000 in this post :)

As for using it on other parts of your body, it is not what the device is made for, but I supposed you could try it if you wanted to.

      • Reply Jasmine 24 January 2015 at 3:20 pm

Thank you, Rin. I bought mine, also N2000. And I can’t wait to try it!

        • Reply Rin 26 January 2015 at 10:41 pm

Hehe, have fun using it! :D

  • Reply Jenny 29 March 2015 at 7:45 am

Hi Rin, your blog has been super useful for my first atempt at using the hada crie! I’m confused about the products to use at the first 2 steps. Does “toner” used for the hot cleanse step need to be a cleasing toner or just a normal toner? I’m using the Kiehls calendula herbal extract which I don’t think has any cleasing abilities. Thanks!

    • Reply Rin 29 March 2015 at 8:48 pm

      Hi Jenny,

      You’re welcome!
And the toner that you regularly use will do, since you are working with an already-cleansed face :)

      • Reply Jenny 30 March 2015 at 7:06 pm

Thanks Rin, I’ll give the toner another go tonight! Also, have you now tried the warm moisturizing with thicker cream? My existing moisturiser is cream texture, so I’ve used it with out the cotton pad, it didn’t seem to be obsorbing, leaving little ‘gel balls’ on my face, almost like the cream is rolling off my face when I touch it. Not sure if you’ve had any experience with it?

        • Reply Rin 30 March 2015 at 11:26 pm

Let me know how it goes!

And yes I have. In fact, I dislike using cotton pads, so the toner step is the only step where I use a cotton pad. If you’re using cream then you don’t need to use it in conjunction with a cotton pad! The texture is thick enough for you to use the device directly :) Although as always, monitor it as you use as different products have different viscosities. If you find it’s drying up and harder to glide across your skin, either add more product or spray some mineral mist for hydration (I use Avene).

          • Jenny 31 March 2015 at 12:48 am

Thanks Rin, I shall try the cream with mist spray technique. =)

I live in Vietnam and the pollution here is just less than….beijing. and my cotton pads are not dirty too! Its only dirty when i move down to my neck. I always think the dust is hiding in my pores ><

    • Reply Rin 23 May 2015 at 11:08 pm

Hi Jolin, that’s interesting! What toner do you use, if I may ask?

And yes, my cotton pads are dirty if I use it on my neck too!

      • Reply Jolin 23 May 2015 at 11:24 pm

        Hi Rin,
I’m using Innisfree (green persimmon pore toner), I just started using Hada Crie 4 days ago ^^
I have serious redness on my cheeks due to acne medication years ago (I used to have severe acne), so now my skin is very thin and sensitive. I hope this machine can help to make my skin healthier and reduce my redness.
How long did it take you to see visible improvement?

        • Reply Rin 23 May 2015 at 11:59 pm

For me the most visible difference was moisturization. I could literally feel the difference – meaning, when I touch my cheeks with my fingers – within the first week or two of using it.

But as with everything else, it will probably differ among individuals, with different skin types and different products used, so just keep using it till you see a difference :)

ps: I have sensitive skin too, but Innisfree doesn’t seem to like me. I tried many of their products but they either had no effect or worse, broke me out :(

Hi Rin, thanks so much for the uber useful info on your website. I am very interested in purchasing the Hada Crie N830 but have no idea where to get it in Singapore. I was actually hoping to buy it off your site (having heard horror stories of people getting fake products even on Amazon(!)) but your site does not seem to be up?

Is there any other alternative? Are you open to helping me to purchase it if I pay the price previously listed on your 24kei site (assuming there’s such a service)? Sorry to ask but I have no idea where else to look!

    Thanks!

    • Reply Rin 26 May 2015 at 1:09 pm

Hi Gill, you can try Qoo10.sg if you’re in Singapore.
Due to several reasons, I decided not to reopen my shop for now; sorry you saw an outdated message!

However, I can also help you purchase it if you like. I’ve sent you an email regarding that :)

Hi Rin, im a first time user of Hitachi Hada Crie cm n3000.
After using it for 3 times, i notice some freckles are more obvious.
Does Hitachi Hada Crie caused the freckles? Anyone experience same problems?

    • Reply Rin 28 May 2015 at 8:36 pm

      Hi Martha,

As far as I know, it is impossible for Hada Crie to cause freckles.

Freckles form when excessive melanin is produced in response to UV radiation. Hada Crie does not produce UV radiation. So there is technically no way for Hada Crie to darken your freckles.

I personally have many freckles and have never observed the phenomena you described despite using Hada Crie for close to two years.

Hi, just wondering, is this product popar in Japan? Is there any devices that can make the same job but has higher reputation?

Im still considering to purchase this product since the price is quite high and there are not much information about it.

    Thanks for answering

      Hi Kate,
Yup, this is popular in Japan. There are many other devices that does the same thing, but I would say that this is one of the more famous brands. There is even lesser, or no information on the other brands since they are available mainly only in Japan.

    Hi Rin,
Could you please share your cleansing methods and products you’re using too? I’ve got a N3000 but I can’t start using it yet as I’m under going Fractional Laser for scars removing. I wonder if I can use at least the cooling mode since I really can’t wait :)

    • Reply Rin 23 June 2015 at 11:47 pm

      Hi Phuong,

Hmmm, usually I just use what I have on hand haha. But I might make a post on that soon, since several people have asked :)

I think it’d be best to ask your dermatologist who is doing your procedure if it’s advisable to use the cooling mode even though it sounds reasonable (because usually cooling = soothing) Just to be on the safe side!

    Hi Rin,

I been using Hada Crie for a week now, I noticed I’m getting spots where I normally don’t get. Should I be changing cotton pad each time I change location for example T-zone area and cheeks?

    • Reply Rin 23 July 2015 at 1:46 am

      Hi Angela,

That’s odd. I never had any problems with spots forming from my use of Hada Crie. I assume you’ve already cleansed your face before using Hada Crie, and that you aren’t using any new products? During the same step, there is no need to change cotton pads to use on different areas of the face. You only change cotton pads between the different steps.

      • Reply Angela 23 July 2015 at 8:45 am

        Hi Rin,

That’s correct . I cleansed my face before using Hada Crie. After cleansing I dry my face with muslin cloth then start using the machine. I use Kiehl’s deep pore daily cleanser. It’s not new, I have been using it for years. Thanks for your help, I will keep monitoring if this is just once off.

    • Reply Rin 28 July 2015 at 2:55 pm

      Hi Candy,

In my opinion, SGD 105 _is_ a little too cheap for N2000.

For reference, in Japan, the remaining stocks (Hitachi ceased production for N2000 when the new N3000 was released) are being sold at around SGD 170.

I will leave it to you to make the decision as to whether it’s authentic and simply a good deal, or the converse.

    Hi Rin,
I recently bought a Hada Crie N3000 from an Ebay UK seller. But it appears that the machine is not in a perfect shape as I expect a “Made in Japan” one should look and feel like. It has oddly cut plastic thing on top of the metal disc. Do you think it is a fake one? I’d better just return it, wouldn’t I?

    • Reply Rin 14 June 2016 at 12:12 am

Hi Hanna, I’m not sure what you mean by the “oddly cut plastic thing” and with no photos, I can’t advise if it’s fake. But if you are feeling uneasy about it, then it’s best to follow your gut feeling.

  • Reply Hanna 14 June 2016 at 12:58 am

Oh, I find the listing here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hitachi-CM-N3000-HADA-CRIE-Facial-Moisturizer-Cleansing-Hot-Cool-/191874876828
The real plastic frame is not in a clean cut. It has lots of dust in the back, and the blue sticker leaves lots of glue traces when I take that out of the disc.

    • Reply Rin 14 June 2016 at 2:38 pm

Hmmm, to me, the price itself is already a red flag, because in Japan, it retails for almost twice the price you bought it for. I think it’s probably best you return it and buy from a reputable seller.

      Hi Jewel,

The production of N2000 stopped the moment N3000 was released, which is a couple of years now, so stock is rare. It’s more expensive to buy N2000 than the latest model (N4000) here in Japan! I don’t have any recommendations on where you can buy N2000. Why don’t you go ahead and buy it from SG if you’re saying you can get in in SG for $190?

    Hi Rin,
I intend to buy a Hada Crie N4000 with expectation that I could have a cleaner face due to I usually wear make up.
But from your post I have understood that the most visible effect of Hada is mosturizing, meanwhile my skin is oily combination (at T area) with many blackheads at T area, Thus, I am afraid that too much mosturizing will make my skin more oily. Do you think so?
I am looking forward to hearing from you
