Achievement unlocked

20 May 2015

Carys was here from late Friday night to early Monday morning. Although we technically only had two full days together, it was very precious because it’s been forever since we have time like that to ourselves, with nothing else in the way.

It’s not her first time in Tokyo and she wanted less touristy places, so we decided to go with an uncommon itinerary. We visited some seriously cool places and I’ll share them in time to come! I can’t do that right now because… read on and you’ll find out.

So, the moment she arrived, we were very excited and we talked alot. I think we talked till about 2am on Friday night. We were supposed to get up at 10am on Saturday, but we both ended up getting up about 8.30am. We sat on the couch and chatted till 10+ and didn’t even made a move to go out until Fu asked why we weren’t going out lol.

No matter where we went – waiting for the train, on the train, waiting for food, eating food, walking around – we continued talking the entire day. And night. I talked more in that one single day than in an entire year! (minus conversations I have with Fu)

On Sunday, I woke up with a sore throat. At first, I thought it was because I slept with my mouth ajar (because of Invisalign). Or maybe we’ve been out so much and I haven’t been drinking a whole lot of water. I didn’t say anything to anyone and still continued talking lol.

At some point in the afternoon, the pain was worsening and I mentioned my throat feels sore.

The moment I said that, Carys was all “OMG me too!”

At first she thought it was because of Japan’s dry air or something, but thought it’s weird the pain only kicked in on the second day.

What actually happened was…

We talked till we tore our throats 讲到喉咙破!!!

dead

We agreed that of all the things we have done in the 10+ years we have known each other, this one is a whole new achievement altogether hahahaha.

By Sunday night, it hurt for me to even swallow saliva. It’s like a thousand tiny blades criss-cross and slice my throat every time I swallow :'( We met Fu for dinner and I stopped talking and let Fu take over haha.

On Monday morning, Carys flew back and I went for Korean class. But after returning home from class, I was feeling quite tired and crashed. I usually sleep about 12 hours a day, but I think I only slept half my usual quota over those three nights.

On the same night, when I leaned against Fu on the couch, he recoiled and asked me if I felt ill. Usually my body temperature is much lower than his and he was surprised to find that my arm was so much hotter that night.

We took my temperature and found that it was 37.3°C. It sounds normal, right? Except my usual body temperature is about 36°C (or low 36) so I think I was legit running a fever.

Play until fall sick… achievement #2.

But an absolute worthy reason to fall sick for!!!

My fever is still coming and going, so I’m gonna have to be on break till I fully recover. But I keep thinking of the blog because I keep imagine people will come by and go like “Eeyur, how many days already, she still never update one!” and like, not come back EVER AGAIN.

sob

So here’s a (not so short) post explaining that I’m still alive (for now) k?!! Don’t abandon meeeeeeeeeee!

Ok, I better detach myself from the keyboard and go lie down, lest I type more nonsense…
