Bubble tea in Japan

29 July 2015

This summer has been torturously hot. Already several people in Tokyo have died from the heat and many more hospitalized. Go away, El Nino!

The worst thing? The usual trend is that August will be even hotter. UGH.

And so, on this lovely hell-like day, I’m craving a cool cup of bubble tea. I’ve avoided bubble tea in Japan after trying it once because simply put, they are utter garbage.

But it’s come to my attention that Gong Cha is opening an outlet in Tokyo this summer!

FINALLY! A decent cup of bubble tea is within reach!

I’m rather neutral towards Gong Cha, and my true love is KOI. I’d kill for a black tea macchiato now.

;____________;

I decided to search if there was a KOI branch in Japan and lo and behold…

THERE IS!!! KOI opened an outlet in Japan just this June! OMG!

I excitedly scanned the page for the address, and… … …

… it’s more than 2,000km away in Okinawa.

WHY OKINAWA!!!!!!! Why couldn’t they be typical and open it in Tokyo?!!!

Somehow it’s worse knowing that KOI is in Japan, but out of reach. So near yet so far…

sobsobsob

Anyone who dares send me a photo of them and bubble tea (or worse, KOI) will be put on my assassination list. You’ve been warned.

    It also had a huge amount of whipped cream on it. It was absolutely delicious, I actually wish I had gotten a bigger size. If you’re in the mood for bubble tea, I’d highly recommend this place.
