The one who stole my heart

14 April 2015

I had my heart stolen two days ago.

Actually, make that two of us, because Fu also fell prey!

The culprit is this lil one:

Kyaaaa!!! Isn’t she the cutest?! *swoon* XD

We both love dogs and have been waffling on whether to get one, so in the meantime, what we do is regularly visit pet stores to look at them.

I’ve never considered a Maltese, and I believed all along that when I get a dog, it will be a Shiba.

But this Maltese here… just appeared suddenly and bored a straight path right into my heart!

She’s the only one so far who played with me so well through the glass! I will wiggle my fingers and she will follow after it excitedly!

When we walked away to look at other dogs, she slipped to the back and rested.

Then Fu (who was already entranced by her then lol) wandered back to her box and he blew air into the cracks of her box and she came bounding back! Then we played with her some more :D

I wanted to see the sleep-wakeup-play sequence for myself so we went away again.

As before, she went back to rest.

I tiptoed back to her box and peeked in. I could only see her head as she was hiding behind the cage. She had her eyes closed and I just looked on quietly.

Suddenly, her eyes fluttered open and we made eye contact.

I didn’t move.
She didn’t move.

After a few more seconds, probably deciding I wasn’t going anywhere else, she got up, squeeeeeezed her body through the small space between the cage and the wall and came to me!

Her face as she was squeezing between the small space was mega adorable! It’s as if her face is saying “must…get…to…her…no…matter…whaaaat” as she fought to get through the tiny space. I could melt into a puddle just thinking about it!!! ;D

We played with her a while more and Fu started to back away and was like “Cannot. Cannot. I can’t look at her anymore else I might just buy her on the spot!” Lol.

The staff came by and asked if we would like to interact with her, so we said “Yes!”

In Japan, they will spritz sanitizer on the customer’s hands first so that it will reduce the chance of the dog catching germs.

Then the staff took her out of her box but did not immediately bring her to us. He went to wipe her eyes, comb her hair, etc. Lol, he think matchmaking ah? Touch up makeup and check breath first before meeting the other party lol.

When he passed her to me, she was like a little ball of inquisitive fluffiness! Ahhh, so cute and cuddly!

We asked the staff some questions about the Maltese breed, and I have since devoured everything ever written on the internet about Maltese lol.

Fu says this is the exact kind of dog he likes; One that will play with you when you want to, unlike the Shiba who might ignore you if it’s not in the mood lol. But after I told him about how fragile toy breeds are – they will literally be seriously injured or even die if you accidentally step or sit on it – he became a little wary haha.

This is the first time we are THIS close to making the decision to buy a dog. But I think we will probably not buy her because I don’t think we are completely ready for such a big long-term commitment.

I still want to travel often; we barely have enough space for ourselves as it is, much less another living thing; and routine, which a dog needs, is the last thing I am. For example, I can sleep at 11pm one day, and 7am the next. I think the dog will be super stressed living with me, not knowing when her next meal will come haha.

But still, she’s so cute…

Oh, my heart…

I think you are smart..many people dont think…..they just see the dog and think he is cute but its like a son you know ….a 16-18 years commitment so If you are not ready dont do it
