2014 Goals

I prefer setting specific goals rather than broad ones like “Eat healthy”, “Exercise more”, “Save money” or one I heard recently, “Love my wife more”… =_=

When it’s so vague, it’s also vague whether or the the goal is accomplished. I will wonder if I am even improving and reaching the goal at all. Without motivation, the goal will be forgotten in a matter of weeks or months at best. That is, until December when it’s time to think about new resolutions.

But if I didn’t even accomplish last year’s resolutions, why should I bother setting the new year’s? Is there any point in setting resolutions at all?

That’s why I suppose I prefer specific goals over generic resolutions. #reasoningwithmyself #dontmindme

So the things I want to accomplish this year?

  1. Get my Japanese Driver’s License (assuming I’m qualified for conversion)
  2. Learn to fluently read hangul before we go Korea
  3. Go Korea
  4. Take wedding photos (haven’t taken yet! D:)
  5. Get my ass over to at least one board game meetup
  6. Attend at least one cooking class
  7. Attend at least one baking class
  8. Learn a new instrument
  9. Improve my Japanese by setting by a blog to translate articles, at least once a week (how’s that for specificity huh?)
  10. Think less. Just do.

YA OK. Before you call me out, the last one LOOKS unspecific. Looks only! It actually has very measurable results.

I tend to think alot before doing anything. Like a blog post, I will let it brew it my head for a few days usually before typing a bit out in drafts, get bored, let it sit and dawdle away. Then I will pick it up and continue correcting and perfecting every small detail and word.

Proof:

3months
3 MONTHS!!!

At times I find it quite irksome, because THE HELL ANYONE CARES WHETHER I WRITE IT THIS WAY OR THAT. IF I PLACE PHOTO BEFORE OR AFTER. IF I MAKE A SPELLING OR GRAMMAR ERROR. IF I INCLUDE THIS DETAIL OR NOT.

RIGHT?!?!

And this is only talking about blogging! There are so many other aspects I CAN’T EVEN.

Gah. Getting worked up over my own words. *nose flares*

AHEM.
*calm tone* So yes, Fu also noticed this and I guess he nagged me about it enough for my thick skull to comprehend and to actively do something about it. #10 can also be viewed as ridding myself of the perfectionism disease.

Every post you see, every project I start on, every action I do in quicker time, all means I’m working towards that goal.

Do you have your goals for 2014 as well?
